Sirius visits with Terri and Pete

Well I arrived at Terri and Pete’s house and I thought I would be able to show you something Christmassy but they are being very un-festive and Bah Humbug!Anyway I had a look around and the nicest thing I could see were these elephants. They are from Sri Lanka and I helped Terri and Pete to choose them when I was on holiday in Sri Lanka with them earlier this year.

I wanted to show you a couple of things that you haven’t seen before. This is the first thing. It is my Work Experience Certificate which means that I am now qualified to come and help you at work if you would like me to do that when I come and stay with you.

This is the second thing that I wanted to show you – it is my commendation from the University of Huddersfield for all my hard work as a Special Envoy and Fundraiser for The Dogstar Foundation. I feel very proud to have been awarded this commendation and I will continue to work very hard to make sure everyone I meet knows all about The Dogstar Foundation and the wonderful work that is being done in Sri Lanka.

Because I am such a busy dog and so popular it was decided that I should have some help with my work for The Dogstar Foundation. My new friend and colleague is called Poosa and this is me checking out her first blog entry.

I went to work with Pete and spent one day as an honorary member of The Royal Air Force (I wore my new blue jumper with an aeroplane on the front especially for this). This is me checking that the undercarriage wheels on a big jet aeroplane are working correctly.

I also had to check that all the engines on the big jet aeroplane were working properly. This was a very important job which can only be carried out by Small Dogs With Great Technical Ability.

Brrrrrrr! It is very cold here! I decided that in addition to all the lovely clothes in my wardrobe that I really needed a nice snuggly scarf to keep me warm. Terri showed me how to knit and let me choose what colour wool I wanted to use for my scarf. I decided to knit a purple scarf as I think it will make me look very handsome.

We are going away on holiday so I have to do some packing. I have got so many clothes I really don’t know how I am going to fit them all into my little rucksack. I have to make sure that my rucksack doesn’t weigh too much as I don’t think I will have enough money to pay excess baggage charges.

Well that is my packing done. As my rucksack is small I was only able to pack the essentials. I think you will agree that I have remembered to pack the most important thing. I am going on holiday to Luxor in Egypt for a week and then we will go to Swindon to stay with Terri’s parents for a couple of days. I hope that you all have a very Happy Christmas and I will update my blog again when I return early in the New Year.

Poosa visits Wiccaweys

Hello again
On wednesday I did my first offical trip to Wiccaweys Border Collie and Working Sheepdog Rescue http://www.wiccaweys.com/
Photobucket
They have a shop , I rather like shopping so I had a look around
Photobucket
they sell loads of collie things
Photobucket
and things for collie owners
Photobucket
They even sell things with cats on
Photobucket
I found a book that would be very useful for people that own rescue collies ( like Mark Squirrel )
Photobucket
then I found loads of things to climb up
Photobucket
and a christmas tree ( cats like climbing trees )
Photobucket
being a collie rescue they did not have a fairy on the top of the tree
Photobucket
Sirius was right and there was no mini bar but I did meet
some puppies that are waiting for there new homes, they are very freindly and love playing games. Sarah and Paul who run Wiccaweys reminded me that a dog is for life and not just for christmas so and they will stay at Wiccaweys untill the right home comes up
Maggie was my favourite
Photobucket
but they were all lovely
Photobucket
Tommorow I am going to a thing called a "meet and greet" that involves Greyhounds ( they are like collies but bigger and have longer legs ) and I am going to meet some dogs called the Beastly Beasts
I wonder how Sirius is getting on ? last I heard he was busy packing for his holiday to Egypt with Terri and Pete

Hello

My name is Poosa ( thats Sinhala for cat ) I have been helping out at Dogstar Head Office in the UK with sorting out all the lovely Sri Lankan Paper Products Sam sells to raise money for the Dogstar Foundation ( they are made from elephant poo and recycled paper in a factory in Sri Lanka )

Whilst I was here I was reading up on the work Dogstar do helping dogs and CATS
in Sri lanka

The leaflet said they had a website http://www.dogstarfoundation.com/ so I had a look at that as well

and then I found this blog

I saw that Sirius the travelling dog was looking for help, so many people want to take him on holiday with then he could not keep up with his blogging and he was looking for help so I volunteered and I am going to give this travelling lark a go when Sirius is very busy
Paul at Wiccaweys Border Collie and Working Sheepdog Rescue http://www.wiccaweys.com/ who helped Sam design the website and made Dogstar's Logo has made one for me ( he is a nice bloke )
Photobucket
and one of me with Sirius
Photobucket
My first official trip as Sirius's Deputy is going to be visiting Wiccaweys HQ ( sounds very exciting )
I have spoken with Sirius, he is happy I am helping but said something about having seniority for trips with mini bars ! Sirius is busy packing for his Holiday with Terri and Pete ( he has travelled with them before ) he told me is making sure he takes the essentials ( what ever that means )
My first Official trip as Sirius Deputy is going to be visiting Wiccaweys HQ , it sounds very exciting but Sirius says he has heard they don't have a minibar
If you would Sirius or me to visit you have to email a lady called Ingi who looks after our travel arrangements Ingi@dogstarfoundation.com

Sirius Graduates with Riayes Mum

Graduation with Raiye's Mum
Wednesday 28th November 2007
The University of Huddersfield

We had to be there really early and it took ages for Raiye's Mum to get all the paperwork stuff out of the way

But she got there eventually and we were ready ... don't we look posh?
And then there was more waiting around at the Town Hall. This is us having a look in the main hall before it all started.

And then we DID IT ... look that's us right up there on the stage making everyone smile!

The town hall is sooooo big! I was told it was built in the Victorian era and still has a lot of the fancy stuff from back then. This is a picture of one of the other graduations but see those people sitting right up by the organ at the back of the stage - well that is where we had to sit!

Now for the best bits ... Food!!

and WINE!

Lunch was really good, I can fair pack a buffet away for such a little lad :)

Next I met some of the posh people who all thought I was great and so well behaved

Just so my Big Day will never be forgotten me and Raiye's Mum have an official photo!

had such a fantastic time with Raiye's Mum and felt very handsome indeed wearing my cap and gown, but afterall I DO have such an important job as a roving ambassador for The Dogstar Foundation.
If you would like a visit from me or my new friend Poosa then please contact Ingi our seceratary to check when we are free. (ingipops@dogstarfoundation.com)

Sirius's adventures with Chasta!

I arrived at Chasta’s house to find she’d planned a weekend full of fun and activities. After what felt like a long car ride we arrived at Thorpe Park. The children were very excited and wanted to try everything all at once. It all looked very scary to a little dog, so I hid for a while till I felt braver.

Later on I felt braver, like a real ambassador dog should, so I said I would go on the rides if Sian held my hand, but I was too small.

I was much tooooooo small! It’s not fair, but what can a little dog do?

I was very well behaved, no rule breaking at all....honest!

I did sneak on some rides but I hid in pockets (or down tops, but the less said about that the better)

Later we left and went off to Butlins, it was quite a drive again and when we got there it was dark and we had missed tea. The children decided we should have Pizza, it was very nice, polished off with a sip or two of bubbly! At Butlins there were some fairground rides that were more my size so I had fun there.Chasta said I couldn’t go swimming but I enjoyed bowling, those balls are very heavy, but I did well, considering.
The boys went on some Go-Karts, but I couldn’t, no animals allowed they said.. Imagine, how primitive! Ah well I enjoyed watching.

I spent the last evening playing ‘Zombies’ with my mates, the Red Coats, I really was one of the boys in my own red coat, and had good fun scaring the little kids..hehe!

Then it was the long drive home, we got there just in time for tea, and a rest cuddled up with Kenza. I wonder what I’ll be doing at my next stop?

I love travelling all over spreading the word about, and raising funds for The nDogstar Foundation http://www.dogstarfoundation.com/
If you would like me to come visit you please contact my seceratary ingipops@dogstarfoundation.com

Sirius visits Sanrosscot!

Hi Sirius here. Well after my lovely stay with Bumpy and all his friends I made my way over to Northern Ireland to join Sandra for a couple of days before heading back for Keira's retiral show. The Hilton Templepatrick is very nice and I got to meet Bob, who has been helping Sandra and her colleagues with their training.
The next day we went out driving, I didn't really get to see much - they were driving too fast!!! We did stop at a nice place for lunch though, and the sun was shining as well.
On Friday it was test day for the guys, Sandra was very nervous but I calmed her down, gave her some good wise words and SHE PASSED, I was pleased for her. The training was at the Police Service Northern Ireland Training Centre

and they have loads of different cars there. I even had a go on the skid pan!!.

Friday evening it was back to Sussex where I met the guys, they are very bouncy!!! We went off to training club with Glen and met more of his friends, they are a very friendly lot and they seem to have good fun there.
We got up very early on the Saturday to go to the dog show, the dogs were very excited 'cos they haven't been to a show for a while. When we got there I showed Keira the cake I had decorated for her

I think she liked it. We took the cake round to Sandra's friend Di's car and I cut the cake and we all had a bit - YUMMY!!

After that I had a wander round the show, there are some very smart dogs there competing for some lovely prizes

I even stopped fora spot of lunch at the best catering facility - Shaylers.

While I was at Sandra's we went for a lovely walk down by the beach, it was very beautiful as the sun was shining and we all had a great time playing frisbee.

I had a rest on a bench overlooking the sea.

and then posed for a group shot

I even found some time to do some cardmaking, Sandra has a LOT of craft stuff!!

I had a look through some magazines to get some inspiration.
and then got stuck in ...

I also had a photo shoot for some extra special cards which you can bid for in the auction on The Refuge.

I had a nice time hear and am heading to Chasta next, I wonder what I will be doing there......?
If you would like me to visit sometime in the New Year just contact my secretary (ingipops@dogstarfoundation.com) to see when I am free to have an adventure with you.
Love, Sirius Dogstar x
